iSofter DVD Ripper Platinum Review

Of all the DVD ripper software on the market, the iSofter DVD Ripper Platinum is at the top of the heap. When you need a simple interface, this program will deliver.

You can choose to copy the source DVD directly with no editing so that you actually have a back-up copy that you can then convert into whatever format you want with the proper program. When you want to burn your material to another disc, you can split the files into two sections to fit onto two DVDs if the file is too large. A free trial version is also available so you can try the program out before you decide whether or not to buy.

If you would like to do some quality editing, you just choose the Options button that will allow you to adjust the screen format (16:9, 4:3, or full screen) for your output. Because of encryption issues, you will need special software to rip commercially made DVDs but the quality is excellent when you finish. However, the price for the package ($39.95) coupled with the encryption software drives the price far beyond what you would find reasonable.

If all you want is to burn video files you already have on your hard drive, iSofter DVD Ripper Platinum is an effective though pricey tool. It can handle MPEG and AVI formats with no problem although your processor will be taxed for the amount of time it takes to rip a DVD (sometimes 3 hours) and you will usually not be able to do much else.

iSofter DVD Ripper Platinum is worth a free trial but you may find purchase to be prohibitive for what you end up with.
